I repotted the first orchid the other day. 'Handsom' had medusa roots. It wasn't easy to get the old potting mix out of them. Here are pictures of the plant during the process, what I used and a plant that is hopefully happy in it's new home

Thanks for the pictures. It looks like a happy plant and has lovely roots! From what I could see, the old media was pretty fine-in the centre at least. So I think you made a good choice as it won't be a huge transition. It looks like you are using the square air cone pot? I love those and that way you can get pretty good aeration in the centre of the pot. I hope it thrives for you.

Yes, I am using the air cone for it. I use them, and clear pots with either a lot of holes or holes and slits on the sides. I would rather water more often than risk rotting them. I love being able to see what is going on. Thank you for your help. The bark seemed like what Matsui uses most of the time, a peat mix with "white small rocks" and other ingredients.

I love the clear pots too and most of my orchids are in them.
