I have a neofinitis falcata and a couple of sophronitis coccinea; I know both varieties like to be grown in cool areas. I also have looked at some japanese sites and noted that they grow these particular varieties in balls of sphagnum moss that are formed around the potting medium. They stated that these pots are cooler due to the evaporation of moisture from sphagnum moss. I really want to make these for my cooler growing plants. If anyone has tried this or knows how to construct these, please let me know. I looked on Youtube, and they show moss ball pots, but they are planted with ferns or other plants, not orchids. If there is a link that shows how to do this, please provide it as I really want to do this with several of my orchids.
Thanks everyone!
Steve
