I had a question about mounting/repotting Tolumnia's. Is it ok to cut back the roots if they are rotted? My Tolumnia Genting Orange has pretty bad roots right now as it was potted into one of those small terra cottas and it has suffered great damage. Can I clip back these roots and then mount this with some fresh sphagnum? If so, how far can the roots be clipped back?
If the roots are truely rotten (brown and mushy), then they probably should be removed. before mounting, soak the plant in KLN , KelpMax or other similar rooting promoter. Be careful using moss with your mount. Tolumnias MUST dry out every day. I have mine mounted with no moss at all.
