Even the long skiny mansanita wood they sell for birds would work since tolumnias are little and a I have seen some even with the hook
I will try to post pictures tomorrow.
Now in regards to fert I have read some places not to worry and in others to feed heavy.... so I just treat mines like the rest

My Tolumnia Jairak Rainbow "Easter Sunday" is sitting "naked" in the clay pot. It has new roots, grew two fans and gets sprayed maybe three times a week. Now I'm waiting and hoping for spikes.

Re: fertilizer -- I do the Weakly Weekly thing with mine, heavy on the Weakly. I also don't stress if I miss a week. More so than heavy fertilizing, I find they respond well to really, really good water. I bought an RO system for mine, and they respond well to it -- moreso than any other genera I grow.

I'm going to mount mine. I bought two pieces of grape wood and some forest moss at the pet store today. The wood is soaking in clean water at the moment. I plan to mount the Tolumnia and a Aerangis Citrata. Any words of advice? I really hope I don't kill anybody. This is my first attempt at mounting.

I think I am going to mount mine as well, eventually. The store did have some other ones on sale, so I may go purchase a few more. Or get some off of eBay LOL.

Honestly though, for this one I decided to just keep the pot. I cut away the old roots, added a bit of bark to the pot, and hung it from a hook next to one of my windows. It's been drying out by the time the day ends so I'm not too worried about it staying wet but I think the next time I repot it, I am going go ahead and just mount it instead heh.

WHERE did you get it???????

I was actually about to ask about that- can you mount more than one orchid on a piece of wood? So I could mount a couple of tolumnias on a piece? Hm, that would be cute.

here's my cute little one in her pot.....

Thanks the paph I got it at lowes, dont know the name but the plant in currently in intensive care lol. Trying to save it has been a challenge
And yes you can mount a few tolumnias together just leave enough space in between since the grow fast but it looks cute when they all bloom together

I did it! I mounted my Tolumnia Pink Panther and it looks adorable When removed from the pot, the roots were in pretty good shape. I did drill some additional drainage holes through the mount to ensure there would be no sitting water in the wood grove. I think there could be some room for a friend or two.

I also mounted my Aerangis Citrata. It came in sphagnum and I knew that would be problematic. Sure enough there were some rooted roots, but not too many. I'm glad my extra keep-it-dry- vigilance paid off.
