I have found that Spanish Moss does best if it is not watered very often, which makes it somewhat incompatible with orchids.
|
I know the difference and I did plant a Catt in a wood slat basket bare root and put Spanish moss around the roots and the orchid grew really well. I only did that once a long time ago and I sold the plant. I now grow all my orchids in sphagnum moss.

Spanish Moss
Hi, I use spag moss for some of my orchids. The Spanish Moss will be used for my bare root Vandas that are in the wooden hanging boxes and just for support. The Spanish moss will be used primarily to hold in a little moisture. It is not used as a planting medium!
