Looks like this technique would work well for phal growers. I wish someone would tell me where can I find step by step directions on this method. I would also like to know what goes in the net basket- moss, hydroton topped with moss or
regular mix topped with moss?

RJSquirrel has discussed it on threads here. Why don't you pm him if he doesn't respond? I think it is moss in the net pot and moss on top of hydroton in the jar. For me, I would prefer to get more air to my Phal roots through the bottom holes than this would allow. But it looks awesome for Masdies and such.

Yea I agree with silken. I grow my phalies in moss but not with this method. I grow in straight moss in mostly clear plastic pots. This method would be too wet with not enough air movement around the roots for phals. But that's just me...ginnibug

inside my netpot is fine seedling sized media mix of bark, lava rock, charcoal, sponge rocks and tree fern shards....I dont mist it....I just remove the netpot and bring it under the faucet at full and the moss and hydroton gets flushed once a week due to algaedeposit.... it gets fertilizer and fresh water once a week
