Here is what I came up with...I did not bother with lids...hopefully my Masdies will bloom for me this year...I have never bloomed them yet...EVER!

Awesome!!! Looks great. Before the RJ method, I grew one masdie. Poorly. It took 2 years to slowly die. Bloomed once right before the end. If this works, I'd love to grow more. Good luck Bud, how long have they been in bowls like this?

RJ - how often do you mist?

Looks great Bud! Those jars in the 2nd picture are neat looking. Never saw any like that.

just the other day I made this set-up...I havent misted yet ...its very wet inside the glass; maybe I will mist it this weekend

@silken: those are mayonaise jars, the pickle relish kind I get in my local corner grocery store

So, I know it's too early to call it a success, but holy cats - RJ's potting style is amazing so far. Check this out - since repotting, no more leaf drop. None. New leaves have been springing up at an alarming rate and today when I took a peek, the masdie is pushing out a bud!!!

Thanks RJ, masdies have always hated me and this is nothing short of remarkable.

Wonderful ! I am also doing progress...so far it is outside the window for the warm morning sun and at 10 am the tall buildings shade all of my plants on my fire escape...I hope my Masdies bloom

jrodpad. what do you have in the net basket? Is it just moss? Also,part above hydroton in the jar-is it all moss?

wonder if there is still hope for me? I have murdered two Restrapia strictas, maybe this setup could work for them? I have always secretly wanted Masdies as well... hmmm. ginnibug
