Dendro keiki repot help!
Default Dendro keiki repot help!

Hello,

I replanted a keiki by its self for now bc the mother plant has another two keikis (much smaller) growing on it. I thought I did an awesome job but now there's a yellow tip on the leaf (which I cut off) and roots look kinda sad. I'm including pics of when it was on mother plant, after I took it off, Saturday when it was in the smaller container and today with the yellow leaf cut off. What did I do wrong and is there anyway to help it? I'm so sad. Thanks, Jenn

Jenn, what is your media for the keiki? So far looking at it I didn't notice anything wrong, and I'm thinking the loss of the lower leaf is probably very normal, since this young plant is going through a period of adjustment. What do you mean when you say the roots of the keiki look sad?

Are you sure that was a keiki?

The way I would treat it would be to set the keiki on top of the media and put a stake to hold the plant up. Mist it twice daily allowing it to dry in-between. Try not to get the media overly wet. It might help to remove half the media to help with humidity at the roots.

I have the same question. Are you sure that is a keiki? It looks like to me that it was just a new lead that was starting to grow over the side of the pot. Also, just because a leaf starts to turn yellow you don't necessarily need to cut it off. Just let it fall off on its own. Good luck!

I agree that it didn't really look like a keiki but a new growth. That would be your next blooming growth likely. when they grow that close to the base I leave them attached and only remove keikis growing up high on the canes.

I agree, I don't think that was a keiki you removed, but a new psuedobulb. One psuedobulb planted by itself probably won't survive but there's always a possibility. Good luck.
