Question about Epidendrum Orchid's Roots and repotting
Default Question about Epidendrum Orchid's Roots and repotting

I'm attaching some pictures of one of my orchid plants - it seems crazy that SO many of its roots are not in the pot at all; does it look like a mistake or should I repot this in a better situation for it?

Also, the green root looking things intertwined with the brown roots - are those new stems or just new roots??

very nice fat aerial roots...you also have a basal keiki coming out of an old cane. I have this kind of plant and repotted it in a bigger container good for another 2 years growth...using small coco chips, charcoal and lava rocks...and I mixed in a couple of handfuls of ordinary potting soil.
The roots will always want to have a way of its own...but this plant is quite forgiving even if on vacation for 2 weeks I never watered it...
its warmer months and it wants to gradually be in direct sunlight and the watering will have to be every other day and fertilizer regimen will have to be weekly weakly since it is in its growth mode.
bring it indoors a week before frost comes to your area
