I believe your Golden Treasure is a Baldan's Kaleidoscope var.........which would explain all the roots. My BK is exactly the same. If only some of my other phals would be as rootiferous

Thanks guys!

Orchidsarefun, I didn't know golden treasure was a variety of Baldan's Kaleidoscope. Genetics would definitely explain the roots on this guy - I really don't have much to do with it! It gets the same care as my other phals and they don't want to go walk-about from their pots every few months.

Without a tag though, my plant is unfortunately still a noid.

Nope! That's not it. When I google 'phalaenopsis golden treasure' the first hits that come up look like mine and some look like yours. I thought mine was something like a Walden's Golden Treasure, but it also looks like King's Ransom and Brother Lawrence. It matters not though, genetically speaking all these hybrids (including Baldan's) have a lot of amabilis in them. Baldan's Kaleidoscope and Walden's Golden Treasure have a lot of the same crosses too. I think the shape of mine is more ambionensis which Treasure, Ransom, and Lawrence have a lot of. Maybe I should change the name to King's Ransom NOID.

It would be interesting to find out from anyone who grows amabilis if it tends to be 'rootiferous' as you put it.
