I've also recently repotted all my orchids and made sure that they (especially the Phalaenopsis ones) were in clear pots, after I did some research on the matter. I've actually also made air holes through the sides of the pots, so that the potting mix also stays more aerated.
I didn't want to order the slotted pots from repotme, as I suspect I'd have to pay extra delivery and import tax as I live in Europe. So I did it myself.
I agree with the statement that one can also see the roots and keep an eye on how healthy they are. I wish I'd done this sooner as I now have a lot of recovering orchids with only a few roots left. (Entirely my fault, I hadn't repotted them for years)
