Cymbidium Problem - Black Stuff

I need help please. Someone left two cymbidiums at their apartment today, abandoned after they moved out. I grabbed them but see this...is it a fungus? How do I treat this?

It is probably fungal due to water being on the leaves. I would probably spray it with regular brown Listerine and repot it.

Listerine.. interesting. Joann can you say what proportion of listerine to water should be used or can it be used without mixing with water?

I use straight brown Listerine in a spray bottle and spray away. If the plant will not be dry in an hour or so, I put a fan on it.

No, no, no! It is sunburn from sitting in front of a sunny window! Cyms in the house do not get fungal infections from water sitting on the leaves and certainly not on the sides of the bulbs. The roots look good for now. Put it back in the pot, give it a good watering/fertilizing (recommend a slow release balanced fertilizer) and keep it outside if the weather permits in your area or get it outside as soon as all danger of frost is past. This is NOT the time of year to repot a Cym in the Northern Hemisphere unless pots are broken or rot has started! Neither is the case here.
