Thanks Joann... Just wondering.. Is there any particular reason why it must be the brown Listerine.

Forgive the hijack by a new guy-is bark the preferred potting medium for Cymbidiums?

Re the "Hijack": There are as many different mixes used/preferred for Cyms as there are members on this Board! When growers ask me what my "secret mix" is, I ask them "do you want this year's secret or last year's secret"? I have used or am using the following basic mixes: (notice I say 'basic'. I still keep a few secrets to myself )

1) 2 sizes pre-soaked fir bark (small and medium) mixed with large perlite,
2) CHC, coir and large perlite,
3) CHC and larga perlite,
4) CHC alone.

A lot depends on your environment - humidity, temperature, light, ph of your water source and general weather conditions. Do you need a rapidly draining mix or a more moisture retaining mix? What type of pots do you want to use - clay or plastic? What is your water Ph?

Sorry, I knew the minute I posted that some readers might not know that CHC refers to Coconut Husk Chips. ...and I still don't think I am spelling coconut correctly! Where is spell check when I need it? It comes in several different sizes from seedling to large, just like fir bark sizing.
