Only you can decide what works for your home environment. For me my Onc do best in a plastic pot with extra holes. The mix I use is one I make. I use Fine bark and perlite. I always add a dash of Sphagnum moss that is chopped up. This mix works me and how I care for my plants.
I could never mount all my Onc and have them do well. It is just too dry here. I am too busy to water everyday. So that would never work for me. I need something that holds in moisture well but drains well too.
For my orchids that like to always be moist like my miltoniopsis I use Peatmoss and prelite.
It took me a little while to find what mix worked best for me, but I have it down now.
