I grew in the mud mix for a couple of years, they do real well, if you're careful about the waterings. Problem for me was, all the repotting. Mud mixes don't last long they break down within 6+ months. They shed water then shrink and compact the roots. I loved the root growth I got from mud but just couldn't do all the transplanting (which I hate with passion)
So they mixes can work, but like anything there are pro's & cons. Just curious ....What was you're choice of new media? :D |
That sounds awful i hate re-potting aswell i think its my worst fear with orchids especially when they are in bloom :( i went for the usual bark mix which included charcoal and spounge rock, so thats me done with repotting for the next few years thankfully :)
