Which roots to cut in mini-phal repot?
Default Which roots to cut in mini-phal repot?

Hello! I'm an orchid newbie. Proud of it! I'm trying to repot an orchid I got on clearance at Lowes. I've taken good care of it, and have encouraged new leaf and root development.. But, it needed to be repotted. My question is that I'm not sure what roots to cut? I don't want to over cut. All the roots are not soggy or moist. All but the new ones have black or brown spots which worried me. It was just a $1.00 purchase so I will not be too upset if it is a loss from your opinions of the pictures from this website:

I also attached photos.. In case they show. First time poster! I thank you dearly for your time in reading this and assisting me with the little guy. It's a miniature phal.

To be honest, if it was mine I wouldn't cut anything because there's not a lot there to cut.

I agree, I would leave all of those. There are not masses, and they all look good, so no reason to cut any

Yep, leave them, they don't look that bad and they will take off with some new, fresh, medium.

When I had a phal like yours, I potted it in a small clay pot with slots on the side. I used moss in this case, as I knew it would dry quickly.

I have mine by my east window and I water them about every second day (although I check them more than once a day hoping for some big surge in growth
I use a chopstick to see if it needs watering. Happy growing!
