I cannot argue with either point!

However, with a little bit of periodic maintenance (i.e., spray with a disinfectant of some sort), algae is a non-issue, and clear pots are an advantage for monitoring "what's going on" in the root zone.

There is something awfully gratifying about seeing those roots growing.
