I agree with Stefpix - I had my earliest orchid successes with Oncidium alliance (Onc noid, from TJs, a couple intergenerics)- tho I do have a sphacelatum (about a year and a half), and haven't rebloomed it yet, tho it does seem easy to grow, at least

I think O sphacelatum needs a lot of heat and humidity. When I got my division it was maybe feb and march and it was doing nothing at all until the summer heat and humidity arrived in NYC. I think it would grow great in southern Florida

I'm sure you are right! I think mine is less than happy with the climate here ...
