I wouldn’t have realized how bad it was if I hadn’t picked it up to inspect it more closely, and suddenly... the white threads appeared.

I handle the plant with care since it was about to bloom. Cattleyas are resilient, and with prompt action, the mold can be eliminated without compromising the health of the plant or its upcoming flower.

After all, the bloom is beautiful 🤩❤️...

That IS a rather dramatic mold culture... Doesn't seem to have done any harm though.

It was disgusting thought, I can deal with brown and greed, but white molds is 🤮
One flower bud fell off but the other bloomed. This was a good 😊 🛟 rescue after all.

That’s fascinating. I also would have brushed off the worst of it, given the amount. I’m usually in the watch-but-don’t-treat camp for molds/fungi, but that is…quite a bit.

Check the pH of the fluid exiting the pot when you water. White molds are more common at low temperatures.
