Default Stanhopea overdue for upbasket?

Hi everyone,
I tried to research this on my own, but man, is there a lot of information on this board!!!!
I received 2 Stan. reichenbachiana ’Eve’ x tigrina ‘Glory of Mexico’ and they are nice, large, healthy plants. BUT, they are both so tight in the pot and their spikes have aborted because they were in regular plastic pots; I was going to put them in baskets. My question is, should I pot them up now or should I wait?

Thanks, rbarata! That info is very helpful. I was afraid that I would set the plant back if I did it now.

Great roots and seems it was easy to remove from plastic pot. Mine have been in hanging wire baskets some 4-5 yrs with large bark and s/m and putting out lots of new growth. Don't see why you shouldn't go ahead and repot now. Good growing!

You can just drop them into baskets, fill in with your medium of choice. (I would suggest sphagnum, they like to stay moist and it won't fall through the holes in the basket they way bark would.) You can't overwater these - in the basket they will dry out fast, and they don't want to dry out! Don't disturb those roots at all. Just give them a chance to do their thing.
