I need some advice on potting up this cattleya division. It must have been growing out of its pot for some time prior to being divided. I just got the division today. From the pictures you can see that the rhizome is different heights, so I can’t just put it in a pot with some media, some of the rhizome would be buried pretty deep, and I would need a pretty deep pot.
I did not want to divide it further, but don’t really see any other way. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Pot it so the newest parts are at the medium surface. Don't worry about the oldest parts. You could also put it into a hanging basket.

This one prefers large bark with lots and lots of air spaces.

With a plant this size, there is no harm in dividing it into 3 pcs. They will each be large enough to grow well, and it will partially solve the problem with non-horizontal rhizome.

I grow in SH and i just bury the rhizome. It doesnt rot for me and the rhizome starts growing horizontally because i have reallly high light. Eventually when I repot and divide again i cut off the old buried bulbs
