Divide?

I’m out of room in my tent and have let these go too long. I went nuclear and just ripped them out of the tub as they were all intertwined. Don’t really have room for larger pots….should I divide the first two? The last may be able to just drop pot in a bigger pot but it’s tight in the there.

That takes a huge weight off my shoulders, thanks, keysguy! I have a bunch of orchiata as well as moss. Whats the consensus on which is better for divisions? I see art was using moss.

I'd be reluctant to use moss for Catts, but it's all about what works for your watering regimen. If the roots were running wild, my guess is that the less medium the better since they're pretty well adapted to growing in air. But that works in my environment. If you're growing in a tent your humidity is likely higher(and more uniform) than mine where they live outside.

As Roberta says it all depends on your growing conditions and culture regimen. I grow where it's hot and humid a good part of the year so I use a coarse bark, sponge rock & charcoal mix for my Catts. Zero sphag.

Divide the first two monsters, drop the third into a bigger pot. Orchiata if you're keeping them in the tent. Repot a little sooner next time or get a bigger tent.

Thanks, all for the great advice! These are a couple spotted catts and a chocolate drop cross from SVO. What size pot would you put 2-3 bulb divisions in? Arts video had what appeared to be 3”. I think these I have on hand are 4”.

You can see how much horizontal space each new growth makes. Pick a pot that will hold 2 years' growth, or longer if your medium breaks down slowly.
