The plant looks good and it's nice that it is making lateral spikes. My one comment would be that when the roots in the pot are that white the plant is overdue for a watering. Phal roots turn green when wet and the color slowly fades as they dry. Time to water when they're almost white.

Default Update 😲

Just thought I would give you all an update on the orchid 💮

Well I was right in saying its gone wild the branch off continued growing and has now started flowering currently I think there is approx. 5 flowers and what looks to be at least 15 more to bloom/open.

The issue I have now is its so side heavy I've had to pull in/up the branch/stem that's grown off and I've used soft thin piece of tubular bandage cut off and attached it to the main stem, it keeps toppling over so I've had to prop it against the wall.

I will try post some pics if you would like to see it?

When I originally got the plant from my brother the flowers were blue but are now white, so I gather there was a dye added to it prior to purchase, I would love to see a colour again but I doubt that doing that is now possible/not recommended.

Jaqs 🙂

Congratulations on reblooming it.

Many people stake Phalaenopsis spikes as they develop so they are upright. Yes, the blue dye was injected into the flower stem. I don't know which dye they use, nor at which stage of development.

Suggestion with regard to the top-heavy tendency to tip over... you can place the whole thing (plastic pot and all) into a clay pot for the weight. Just choose a pot with a hole (an ordinary garden terracotta pot works well)
