I would go with a horizontal mount. with sphagnum between the plant and mount. Those short, fine roots like the moisture, and it will stay more evenly moist horizontally. I have also had success using an inverted basket (I used wood but I think plastic would work well. Stuff the basket with sphagnum (hold in place with wire or something similar) and place the plant on the outside of the basket, tying it in place. (Try to get at least some of the roots in good contact with the sphag.) Eventually, it will grow into a ball. (I have used the same approach with Epi. porpax, another mat-forming species)
