YES! Cattleya resurrection! Now how to repot?
Default YES! Cattleya resurrection! Now how to repot?

I have been nursing a rootless Potinera Heather's Gold 'Motherload' for the past 10 months, treating with Kelpmax, heat mat, humidity tent... and it has FINALLY put out new roots! OMG I thought it would never happen. Celebrate with me!

(The loss of roots was totally my fault -- I repotted into S/H at the wrong time, and all of the existing roots rotted.)

It also has a new growth that is, of course, growing orthogonally to the previous pseudobulbs. How would you suggest I orient this into its new S/H home? The existing leaves are quite large and heavy, so I was hoping to use a deeper glass container to help support them, but then the new shoot would be inside the container and pointing directly into the glass. Will it right itself? Or should I plant it at the top of the container?
