Nursery that sells clay pots I like was out of 4" ones, so I picked up a 6" because in my mind, the 4" might be a little cramped anyway, and according to all ya'all, it's best to repot these things when they show signs of growth and I did not want to miss that opportunity.

Way over potted. If you just did it recently I'd recommend finding a smaller pot and repotting. You only want a pot large enough to comfortably contain the root ball.
Whatever set up you use needs to allow air to circulate freely around the roots. You could achieve this with that pot by filling the bottom and middle of the pot with styrofoam or some other material that doesn't absorb water. Or...by using a much looser medium. Good luck!
