Good day!!

Yesterday I officially presented myself and with your permission I take the dare to make my first consultation, I hope not to bother, but this and another subject that I will ask separately overwhelms me, so here we go:

I bought these Cattleyas a few months ago in Autumn, since they arrived I have had to supervise them a lot, because they came from an open nursery, some with mini snails that I have been able to eradicate. The issue is that I do not have plants in these conditions, with such old medium or green mold.

My instinct is to repot them with new medium and a pot adapted to my environment, but the vendor told me "no repot need it". That was the only replay I got...

So, my doubts:

1) According to the photos here below, do you think these Cattleyas need repot?

Seems there is a problem with your images. The best way I have found to insert images is to use the 'Go Advanced' button below the reply box. There is an attachment button there.

I see them. I would repot them but not today. When each plant begins making new roots, repot that plant. Until then let them become dry between wsterings.

Thank you so much!!! @Estación Seca

That's what I try to do, About every 10 days or more, since is quite cold here at the moment, I am also maintaining the high humidity I can with some air movement..

May I ask you one more question, please? ..That green mold on top is it beneficial? should I reproduce it in other Cats?

I can see there's a tag with an ID. Do all of them have tags? What's written there?

This table is useful for species but may be of some help knowing the species behind the hybrids.

Thank you for the list!

Only one of them has tag out of 4; 3 of them have already bloomed and with the flower pics I looked online as of Cat. Labiata hybrid.

The one with tag that hasn't bloom yet ( I guess should bloom around spring) said on the tag: Brassola Elio Cat. n/r = Hybrid from Pot. Blc. Haw Yuan Gold x Slc. Hsinying Catherine

Here are some of the bloom Pics: (sorry some pics are upside down, I need to figure it out how to work with the post)

With regard to the "green mold", it is just algae - harmless to the plant, an indicator that things are somewhat more damp that a Catt would like. When you repot (and I agree with ES, wait until you see just the start of roots) so that they stay somewhat drier, the issue will go away. So watch for the new roots. You want to pot just as they start (or a week or two before, if you can foresee the future ) so that they can grow into the new medium. Also, those very new little root tips are very fragile and if damaged they stop growing. So if you catch them just as they're starting, there will be more coming behind the ones that you see.

Thank you @Roberta.
In regard to the "algae" and I mentioned before I don't have it in my growing setup and it really bothers me since I think it suffocates the roots a bit, many of the roots within are dead, but I did not know if they served another purpose.

About, "if you can foresee the future"..
but I understand what you mean, however one of them already has a root, a single one, but it does. I attach the photo.

Perhaps another option could be clean a little bit
the upper part of the pot, replace the superficial medium and let the new roots have a newer medium and thus not compromise the spring flowering.

Either way I can wait, I don't have an anxiety attack or anything, but it bothers me to see the interior with so many black roots and algae.

THANK YOU!

Orchids die if you fuss with the roots. Just leave them alone now. Learn to ignore the algae. It doesn't harm the plant at all.
