Wasn't sure if this warranted a new thread but I'm thinking I may get more eyeballs this way.

I am planning a second jungle log, would be the same size as the last one, about 5" wide and 10" tall. I have some mini phals that are growing tons of aerial roots and am thinking that they would go perfectly on the log.

However, I'm wondering what the limit would be for plants. I'm thinking 2 since the roots will take over but is that being overly optimistic? The plants seem to have settled on 3" leaves at max so the plants themselves should't take up too much room.

I could just try it and see what happens, I have 4 minis that I can work with. Maybe try 1 on one log and 2 on another. I'm good at overthinking stuff like this so I figure I'd check with the hive mind on this! 🙃

Any useful input appreciated!

Kool Logs evaporatively cool plants. That might not be a good idea for Phals in the winter unless you have a very warm and humid room, day and night, for them.

My phals love to have the chance for their roots to run free. I think that the jungle log might be perfect for them. Advantage of Phals (and other monopodial orchids) is that they don't particularly spread out (if roots get entangled with each other, no big deal, they'll just keep each other hydrated)

I'm planning on some kind of indoor greenhouse setup this winter, but yes definitely a concern in my climate! I had a smaller grow space that worked well, I'm hoping I can scale it semi-efficiently.

That's what I was kind of hoping would be the case, I think one on each side would look good and shouldn't overcrowd.
