Both my logs are pretty small. I've included some pics, as well as an overall of the growing area. They have small computer fans creating a nice little breeze, and I'm planning on misting them in the mornings and then filling the terracotta watering stakes every few days (as they get low). I've mounted a Masdie and a Tolumnia on each (Masdie on the bottom, Tolumnia on top). They all looked pretty good going on, with some new roots/growths happening, so here's hoping that they adjust well! I'm going to spray them with some KelpMax later!

Looks good! I've found mine drips quite a bit when I spray it, so I'd guess I need to know what to look for when it is actually dry so I don't get carried away with that. Now it's the waiting game to see how the plants react!

Remember that pot (water reservoir). Once everything stabilizes, it should stay gently damp without a lot of spraying, just get a feel for how often the reservoir needs filling.

Also, update, it took 2 hours for my husband to comment on the smell. I told him it should go away soon...

Yes waiting is the worst! But I've gotten better since I have a lot more plants to keep me otherwise occupied.

I only smell mine if I get right up on top of it, so that is good. Though I don't know if I "charged" it long enough. I may have to try it again just to make sure it is well soaked.

Yes, I'm wondering that too about mine. This morning I checked on them and even though the internal pots were about half-gone, the outsides were pretty dry. I didn't poke too hard to figure out if that was just the surface or not. I don't think I'm going to get "dripping wet" all the time, but I'm not sure how to judge "correctly moist". I guess time will tell! Maybe I put on too much moss? So many variables! Let me know if you charge yours again if that seems to help - maybe I'll do that later too!

I had to run out the door early this morning and won't be back home until tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get a better idea of how damp or not it stays when I get back. At least this way I won't be fussing over it every 5 minutes 😂.

I'm thinking I'm probably going to dunk it once more, just to see the difference what more time does to it. Or I could put another one together and test it all over again. I have some mini phals that would probably work good on a log as well! We'll see how motivated I feel when I get home tomorrow.

Oooooh, what kind of mini-phals? I've got two on order from Hausermann's...

They're some NoIDs I picked up from Aldi last year sometime. I've got 4, they were like $5 so I got a little crazy lol.

They grow pretty well as I've got them now but I'd like to see how they do on a log. I could use the space either for something else or to just clear up the space!

Pay attention to how big your plants get. Those are likely very large plants (bushel basket size.) I might suggest limiting yourself to miniatures for this technique.
