Such pots are slip-cast and sintered. Unless they are not cooled properly after firing, the likelihood of there being restrained stresses is minimal. Beside, the extreme porosity of such a body means that a stress crack with be relieved over a very short distance and won’t propagate.

Unless you’re dealing with tempered glass or a vase that wasn’t annealed properly, the breakage between two closely-spaced holes is due to vibrations and the brittleness of the material, not stored stress.

Ahhh I see the miscommunication, I was using a term of art indelicately

I completely agree. It is all the vibrations and user error. I just meant to say that the farther apart the holes are the less chance of breakage

I had forgotten the stored stress issue and annealing as in glass (and I assume clay too since it is super heated it has to be slowly cooled too) and I was saying stress more figuratively.

The tiles finally came! I'll probably mosaic my pot sometime this week, I'll keep yall posted.

Obviously my project is gonna be a blue pot.
