Osmunda Fiber
Default Osmunda Fiber

So I started digging up some ferns by the foundation of my house in Massachusetts and I'm pretty sure it's either Royal or Cinnamon fern based on the fertile fronds that are devoid of leaves and look like brown berries. I removed them in mats about 2 inches deep. They dont seem that hard except a few sections that I really had dig up that were more like a solid mass of crowns, almost like tree fern fiber. The older growth is woody with black roots but the younger growth is fairly light.

Can these be used? I will post pictures after I clean them up a bit.
