I've been looking for a couple of minis to grow in my greenhouse window with my phals. I saw this one at Andy's: Pleurothallis
Species: viduata (Selby). And also Bulbophyllum
Species:laxiflorum . Do you all have any thoughts ( of course you do) would this work in bright shade (I have a Zygo on the top shelf doing well and I have bloomed Oncidiums and Den Phals in that space as well).

Bulbo laxiflorum is a really great Bulbophyllum. It is easy to grow and bloom. It is a nice, small orchid. Mine has already bloomed twice since I bought it (January, bare-root sale) and it was a small division and I haven't been able to bloom any of my others. :| I planted mine in a shallow dish of NZ moss and set the dish on its side so the orchid grows as if mounted.

I do not grow the other so I cannot help you there. If you have any questions at all, call or email Andy's Orchids. Andy is very good at calling/emailing and answering questions.

That is helpful, leafmite. Do you have a picture? Would it grow in that light?

Personally, I think the leaves are very graceful for a Bulbo. I think you will be fine with the lighting. The lighting is most likely in the bright shade range as all the orchids I grow in my tanks prefer shade/bright shade.

Leafmite, are those dishes sold in pet stores as water dishes for reptiles?

It was the best I could do here in January!

Dollythehun, if you are doing an Andy's order, you might want to take a look at Dendrobium auriculatum and see if it interests you.
