so...my masd. floribunda has put out a little flower spike, but i'm wondering if it's actually going to bloom. the end of it has what looks like a little dry sheath. is this typical? or perhaps something stressed it and will keep it from blooming?

Sorry about the double posting, but thought perhaps this forum was the more appropriate one. Any opinions, thoughts much appreciated!
Read your post... do you know if this one is a sequential bloomer? I have a Masd. hybrid which is, and the initial spike looks much the same. A month or so after the spike is out I usually begin to see the swelling of a bud, which will bloom and eventually fade. The spike will throw another bud in a few weeks, and so it goes.

hmm...good question...i don't know, actually. have tried to do a little searching around to find out about that, but can't seem to find anything. something tells me it's not tho. well, i'll be keeping an eye on it.

thanks!
According to the orchidspecies notes on it, it is indeed a multifloral, with only one flower open on a spike at a time. There is hope for you yet.
Good growing,
Adam
