Some of you may remember the pathetic bloom I got out of this guy last summer. It did a large amount of growing since then, and has put out, in my humblest opinion, some of the most stunning blooms. It is the plant that began my love of Masdies!

Depending on how you look at it, the fuzz can make it almost purple, or it can appear orange, for the base color. I really love this plant and am ecstatic that last years blooms were the result of either my failures or seedling growing pains and not permanent.

That is incredible! I can see why you fell in love with it!

I still haven't dared to get another Masde. I just have the one, still. I confess, though, if I saw this one, I would not hesitate to buy it. The flowers are really stunning! I love the stripes. It certainly is wild!

Spectacular, yes!

And you didn't even mention the Den behind it?

Thanks all, I was so happy when it spiked.

The Dendrobium in the back is Den. Illusion 'Embers' - both this and the Wild Child came from Mountain Orchids. I haven't mentioned the Den. because it came with those blooms and they were not produced by me. The best I can do is say that I received it, with those three blooms, the last week of December and it hasn't dropped them... Very long lasting, indeed!

So lovely. When I saw the Den I thought you may have gotten it from them. I have never ordered from them but go look allot. Now that I am having more luck with my Masdies I want more but they don't have very many the last time I look. And by the way does anyone know what happened to Hawk Hill ? There web sight is gone.

Oh also what is the little purple or pink one lower down?

Thanks

Mountain Orchids has seemed to be reducing in the Masdies which is a shame. I'm hoping there's more growing out and not ready to sell yet. J&L, Ecuagenera and Andys are other good sources that I have ordered from. I haven't ordered any Masdies from Santa Barbara yet, but they have a good selection too- a nice mix of species and hybrids.

The little purple guy is Poroglossum dalstroemii. So far has been a vigorous bloomer and the spikes produce sequential blooms. If you like itty bitty alien flowers, this guy is great!

That's what I thought. I'm hoping the same thing. They do have a cute little striped one now I should try. Now with my new set up and having better luck I am looking into getting some more. I just couldn't do it before they were not doing well. I have gotten most of mine from J&L but the rest of mine I have gotten from Seattle Orchids.
