Dracula inaequalis (Rchb.f.) Luer & R.Escobar
Interesting little guy this Dracula inaequalis, former Dracula carderi. It grows in the wild in Colombia and does very well in our climate here in Brazil.

I love these little guys. I have D. lotax as has already been established and this looks very similar except for the face!

Ross, the flowers may look a little similar in a glance, but the lip structure is different and also the leaves seem to me more slender in D. lotax than in D. inaequalis. Also, inaequalis have one (sometimes a few) brown irregular spots on the sepals at the point where they begin to get thin. Dracula inaequalis was formerly known as Dracula carderi. |
