Tonight I went to my local orchid society meeting and they had a raffle. I had three winning tickets and now find myself with a bareroot Pleurothallis restrepioides 'Dragonstone'. I'm wondering what I should pot that in?
I'm thinking fine fir bark. Anything I should add to that? Maybe a little sphaghnum?
How deeply should I put the roots?
I'm reading about the general culture and I think I can provide cool-intermediate with paph light levels. Any other tips?
BTW the other two tickets got me a Dendrobium Line Dance 'Minuet' and a book on greenhouses.
I have mine in fine bark with #2 sponge rock (perlite) It does like to stay on the damp side (so the sphag wouldn't hurt, depending on your watering) I suggest a shallow bulb pan - it is a "rambler" and a shallow pot permits you to give it room to spread out without a lot of volume. It is rather shallow-rooted. It is a terrific plant - very floriferous, and also makes keikis, so you can share.
