Masd. Machu Picchu
This is my 2nd try at growing this. I bloomed one before, but it and several others finally succumbed to heat stress in my greenhouse in summer. I got this last March, again from Ecuagenera. It has survived a summer under my care. Some of the leaves have grown a little folded, likely due to lack of humidity. But it didn't get black spots on the leaves from heat stress like my other did. I kept this right near a cold air intake that cuts in when the temps in the greenhouse get near 90F. I had it potted in a clay pot, but it came from a Dollar Store and just seemed to have a glaze on the inside that this and several other plants didn't like. So I moved it into a clear plastic pot in fall and I see nice roots growing and some of the newer leaves aren't as folded. I think I will try summering it out in a shaded area of my flower bed next summer.

Envy is such an ugly word! I've recently had luck with growing the "warmer" varieties but given a Christmas wish,I covet yours! More pix plz! Just lovely.

It's only one bloom for now so not too much to look at. But give in and next time Ecuagenera is in your area, ask them to bring you one. It has put on a lot of growths and even the one that I killed, bloomed for me once. I really am hoping to do better by this one.

I would love to grow Masdevallias and Draculas but my climate doesn't allow it. Congratulations on your blooms. They're beautiful!
