Default Is this Pleurothallis lewisiae???

I got my order from Andy's today, and I'm a little confused by one plant- is the one on the far right and in the closeup picture Pleurothallis lewisiae? It doesn't look like I expected it would, though the label says it is.

I thought Pleuro lewisiae had round fleshy leaves that crept close to the substrate, as seen in Tommymiami's thread here: Pleurothallis lewisiae

Is there also a form with elongated leaves that stands up more?

It's a beautiful plant, big and full, but I wonder if I didn't get what I ordered.

I'll give you a bump as I have no idea. Cute plants though.

I hope someone can help you. I have a few that are probably misidentified as well. I never had problems with fuzzy identification until I started growing Bulbos and Pleuros. :|

I would write Andy an email or call him and discuss it with him if you are concerned. It might just be the culture he has been giving it (temperatures, lighting). You won't really know for certain until it blooms and there seems to be some variation there.

Here is another picture (two variations of flowers).

Thanks, I did send Andy an email, but thought I would check in here as well. I guess I'll wait and see what he says. The plant I have is very pretty, I just want to make sure I'm giving it the correct conditions for its species!

I look forward to seeing what answer you post on this one. I understand why you want to know...the temperatures needs can really be different for these.

I got Haraella odorata (retrocalla), Lepanthes telipogoniflora, and Lepanthopsis astrophora.

They're all so cute! I was expecting small, of course, but the Lepanthes especially is just so perfectly tiny! And the Haraella has two spikes!

I have those three. They are great little orchids. My astrophora hasn't bloomed for me yet so I have no idea of the size of the flowers but the other two are nice as they don't need a magnifying glass to see. I have a Dendrobium prenticei and I took it to an Orchid Society meeting to show off the blooms and no one could find them. I had to point them out to everyone. I am not going to bother with the Platystele stenostachya. :|

Well, I heard back from Andy today, and he says that what I have is indeed Pleurothalllis lewisiae. He said that he has them growing in fairly high light and that's probably why the leaves are longer and not round.

So I guess that answers that, but I'm still confused. The growth form looks nothing like Tommymiami's. I can't wait to see if the blooms look like I was expecting.

In other news, I ordered two more orchids while I was on the phone with Andy. Another Lepanthes telipogoniflora (so I can have one my desk at work as well as at home) and a Pleurothallis grobyi!
