Tindo: I'd personally recommend them, as the entire series of 21 volumes covers almost all of the
Masdevallia species with a description and detailed watercolors of each species done by Stig Dalström. More of a picture-reference book than detailed information of the genus. The book is printed in German, which may pose a problem to most people. Luer also has the 7 volume series of Thesaurus Dracularum, which covers almost all of the
Dracula species and printed in the same manner. The only problem with both Thesaurus is the price, where each volume can cost anywhere from $50-$120. For more detailed information, you can never go wrong with Carl Luer's Icones Pleurothallidinarum (27 volumes to date)...
