Do you have any orchids that will uhm die if you lower the temps at night into the 50's? Most plants of the earth are adapted to take temps at 57.2 F (average temp of the Earth 20 years ago, before global warming hehe). Anyway, I expose many of my orchids, Phals, Pluerothalids, etc.. to temps in the mid to upper 50's and they either don't care or love it. I bet any Masdie sp. you put in there would love you for it.
P.S. I will have to ask you for the blue prints on that thing later on.

Unfortunately I have a Dyakia hendersonianium that wants really warm temps. A lot of the other folks would pout at cold temps. I can keep the bottom of the tank cool (realitively) while the middle to top is warmish, so cool is an option. But cool and high humidity go together. I'd be happy to send you pdf of tank design that I sent Paul at First Class Aquatics. I am totally happy with the outcome and his work (even with the warpage of the acrylic). I'd do it again (and I might)!

I took some photos to try to show you the new growth, but the ones of the whole plant are close up enough for you to be able to actually see anything. So, I took some other close ups this morning.

This is one of the new leaves nearly mature:


This one shows new shoots, new roots, and what will become another flower stalk.



There are new growths all around the plant, and even in the middle - where it is getting quite crowded. Might be time for it to be divided while its in growth and forming new roots...

How can you tell it will become a flower stalk (peduncle).

Tin, the light growth on the right in the second picture is a new leaf. In the leaf on the left you can see a light coloured growth sitting in the indentation of the leaf... that one will become a spike - eventually. Normally these sit down inside the 'papery sheaths' that surround the Masdie leaves, but I've peeled almost all of mine off because they stayed too wet in the humidity and started to rot. This exposed several dormant 'spikes' that haven't really started growth yet.
