Masdevallia tonduzii
Well, it is ALWAYS time to celebrate when any Masdevallia grows and especially blooms in our Miami heat. This baby proved to be really HOT growing, survived without skipping a beat our hot summer, and enjoying some cold days now, rewarding me with first open spike! More Masdies outside are in spike now. I grow this one on kool log, in shade, keeping moist at all times!

Many thanks Ordphien and Patty. Patty, balcony is now like Ecuador orchid jungle, cold snaps make zillion of orchids spike and bud, I have in bud species I never even hoped to see bloom outside! So every day, there is something new opening, I already saw what's coming tomorrow :-)

Great photos, exactly in focus. Pic 4 shows the inner petals and lip well.

Sorry to hear ula. Most of my Masdevallia plants that I do grow outside in our mostly hot Florida are mounted on the kool logs, and they seem to enjoy it the most!

So cute Tommy. I am really considering on buying one of your kool logs to try. Not sure it's the cool I need, but might be easier to water.
