I can't take full credit for these blooms as it arrived from Andy's Orchids in bud. It is mounted and the entire plant is about 6" in height.

The flower really is lime green throughout.

Thanks! I'm really still learning with the camera. It is a Canon T3i with a 100mm macro lens. I also use a tripod and a shutter trigger so that the camera is as still as possible.

Carrie, nice picture, try to use some darker background, black velvet works the best, and have the spike as far as possible from the background. Macro lens is working for you, I see, you can take great close ups of these mini's now :-)

I've been using some black poster board for the background and base. I still have difficulties with the light so I know that I still have shadows.... I'll figure it out

Great trick is to make sure you have lighted the spike itself, but always avoid lighting the background. I am using the mini photo studio that has black velvet and two lamps, lamps do light plant from each side, and flash does light it from the front, when you do not have background lighted, it creates that complete black. Poster is reflecting too much light from your flesh.

Carrie, before I got small studio, that is actually only some $35, I did take most pics outside at night and used only white light flashlight, it did work well too, but wind was moving the tiny plants, so I do prefer inside studio, for sure more comfortable and sturdy :-)
