Masdevallia ??, need id please.

Have this masdav labelled m.davisii. But i'm sure she is definitely not davisii.
Please help me to id her.

Looks like a hybrid between Masdevallia princeps/Masd ayacabana/Masd reginae, (not sure which of these three was used as the parent plant, but I'm leaning more towards Masd princeps), and possibly Masd davisii.

It is most definitely, without a doubt, 100% not Masd davisii. The flowers on Masd davisii are a bright yellow. Lateral sepals are fused and are much shorter than the ones on your plant. The dorsal sepal on Masd davisii is also much shorter than the dorsal sepal on your plant. Overall, the shape of Masd davisii is somewhat triangular.

The flower shape of your orchid is very characteristic of either Masd ayacabana, Masd princeps, or Masd reginae.

Your Masdevallia looks like it retained the yellow color from Masd davisii.

Other than this, I don't have a precise name for you.

Plus, unless you live in the highlands of Indonesia, Masd davisii would be impossible to grow without having the air conditioner on year round.

Philip, I'm afraid I must disagree with one point you've made
I have several Masd. davisii growing in my greenhouse, they bloom frequently for me as well. My high in the Summer in the greenhouse is about 85 degrees but the average daytime is 80. My nights average 60 in the hot summer.
I live in Oregon, and M. davisii grows just fine

The temperatures you have in Oregon are fine.

The temperatures in the lowland cities of Indonesia may not work so well. Heat and humidity there can be pretty intolerable.

Half of Indonesia is on either side of the equator. Malaysia and the Philippines are Indonesia's neighbors.

If he lives in some place like Malang, (this little town is on top of hills), Masd davisii would be ok. The climate here is very comfortable.

If he lives in places like Surabaya or Jakarta, (these places are pretty low in elevation), unless he has a dedicated cool house, he'd have difficulties growing Masd davisii.

A lowland city in Indonesia called Pekanbaru is experiencing winter right now, (because it is in the northern hemisphere, just above the equator), the winter high is somewhere in the mid-80's F, and the winter lows are somewhere in the 70's F. Summer is not going to be so mild...

I totally agree with this assessment. I know nothing of M. davisii so I can't speak to that.
