OMG! This thing is actually going to bloom for me! I never expected it to bloom after seeing the mother plant suffer through my low humidity, heat, and root loss. My hopes were pretty bleak after my Restrepia contorta lost half of its leaves. Good thing I saved this keiki that came off during the car ride from the orchid store!

Nice! The flowers on this species are so cool.

Hopefully I will be getting some blooms soon, too. I received a couple of Restrepia from Ecuagenera the other day and I think I see something forming inside the uppermost sheath. .....Or I might just be delusional

Default IT BLOOMED

Well, here is the blooming plant. I hope it survives under my conditions. BTW the leaves always come out accordion-shaped and I've been keeping it consistently moist. The leaves then either stay there or drop off. Is there a way to solve this? Temps right now are in the 69-70 degrees F range and humidity is around 35-40%. Also, sorry for the bad pics. its hard to photograph this flower's colors accurately without blurring the image.

Have you considered using a finer bark mix?

actually, this one is in sphagnum moss, along with the dying adult plant. So far, after moving it out of the fine bark, the health of the plants are improving.
