I know this is an older thread, but there had been an ID problem between this and another Masdevallia Rosie had just recently purchased.
The Masdevallia in this thread is either Masd amabilis or Masd x splendida, not Masd barleana.
The true Masd barleana is more triangular in shape. The lateral sepals on the true Masdevallia barleana is mostly fused.
The lateral sepals on this Masdevallia are separated.
When you're looking at similar looking Masdevallias, such as Masd amabilis and Masd barleana, or Masd coccinea var alba and Masd tovarensis, pay close attention to whether the lateral sepals are separate from each other or if they are fused.
This is definitely a stunning plant, and what I'm saying about its identity will not ever change that, but if you want a correct ID, it is not the plant scientifically described as the true Masd barleana.
