Restrepia lansbergii - Orchid Board

Several Restrepia are in bloom now. I caught this one trying to hide behind muscifera.
This one prefers more shade than some of the others. Filtered light turns it's leaves red, indicating too much light. I like to see a red tinge around the edges, but not on the whole leaf. Older growth is redder, while new growth is very green, a sign that it is acclimating to the greenhouse light levels.

Lovely bloom. I have 2 new volumes of books just on minis. It states that this one resents cool temps and may even stop growing due to that. So I've kept mine in a slightly warmer spot off to the side of growlights. It was bought bareroot from Ecugenara at a local show in June and I have it in moss/clay pot.No flowers yet. What do you think.

A Compendium of miniature Orchid Species Vol.1&2 authored by Ron Parsons and Mary Gerritsen. Had to save up my pennies but so worth it. He gave a talk at our society mtg sev. months ago.

DeaC, I have this one in a mostly shade cool greenhouse. The temps this summer maxed out at 85 degrees and the night-time lows averaged about 60 this Summer.

This winter so far we have been down into the 40's in the evenings and average between 60- 70 during the day. It's growing and blooming fine so far.

For the plants that prefer it a bit warmer, I have a tray set closest to the heater. This year I bought a seedling heat mat and thermostat because I can't bring anything into the house, it's all got to stay outside. We'll see how they do.

Has yours put off any new growth? Some of the bare root plants that I got from Ecuagenra last year took almost a year to recover and start growing. Some of those were just utterly dehydrated though.

I'm not a big fan of Restrepia but I really like this one.
Also I got those books on miniatures just recently and it is fantastic!!!

I have something coming from behind a leaf but that's it. I get very frustrated when I read about different cultures for the same plant. Always a lot of variables to consider and a work in progress so we'll see!
