Lepanthes rhodophylla 'J&L'
At last weekend's Orchidfete orchid show in Montreal, I purchased a stunning Lepanthes rhodophylla that looks out of this world. Cordelia from J&L thought I might like it and brought it especially to show me. But I didn't like it......I LOVED it instead. The leaves look like purple velvety satin with a green cast!!!! The sequential flowers are yellow with green horns! Beware guys, you might fall head over heels over it as I have!
As you see the pics, the undulating surface of the leaves changes color depends on angles from the velvety purple to satin green. The people at the show who saw it were mesmerized!
This division has 10 mature leaves, two new growths and a keiki on one leave ( see the last pic)...
According to Cordelia, their mother plant is the only known plant in cultivation and the one I have is the 4th division sold...
Cultivation is intermediate, low light and high humidity with RO or rain water... Like all my pleurothallis lol
I'm so excited that I will treasure and keep an eye on this plant more than others... At least for now until I get tired of those leaves ... Not!

Never seen or heard of this one. Is it really so big, or should I say monster sized?

Wow, beautiful and it seems like monster size for Lepanthes, or at least compare to mine, I have the miniature once :-)

Yes the stalk with leaves go up to 15 inches in height... Leaves themselves are 4.5 inches... So it is a giant compared to my miniature pleurothallis in my cool tank...
