Masd. Vendor Recommendations?
I'd like to add a few masdevallias to my collection this fall. Has anyone had really good luck with a particular vendor? Thanks!

Not sure where you are located. It's always fun to go to the greenhouse and pick them out. You can try J&L and Parkside orchids. These 2 are "local" to me in northern NJ, hence my recommendation.
Are you a member of a local Orchid Society? If so, that would be a great place to get more guidance.

I also suggest J & L Orchids...

You can also try Piping Rock Orchids...
Masdevallias and other Pleurothallid Allies
Piping Rock has a mixture of species and hybrids. Owner Glen Decker is very helpful, he spoke at our OS last year. He goes to almost every orchid show in the North East.

Hillwview Gardens in Oregon is also well known for masdies. Contact them. They have a great selection.

You can never go wrong with Andy's.

Thanks, everyone. Great recommendations. Darn it, though. Both J&L and Hillsview spoke at our local society last year. I bought plants from both, but at the time was not really interested in trying masdevallias. Sure do wish they were coming back soon!

For the quality, I've never seen better than Hawkhill Orchids. I've ran down to California from Canada specifically to import Masdavallias and Draculas from Hawkhill, and I will get more in the future from them.

I love all the ones that have been mentioned thus far. However to add to the list, I like Colombian Orchid Imports. Ordering from them always takes a while but its worth the wait. Everytime I get orchid from them they are bare root, but very healthy! Since they are unpotted I never have to worry too much about pests since its easier to do visual inspections and root washing.

I would also add an EBay seller, Evelyn Orchids to the list. I received 4 hybrid Masdevallias a while ago and wss very happy with what I got for what I paid. I wouldn't put the vendor in the same class as Andy's, but the price was amazing. Although I've only ordered from them once and had no issues, the instances I'm aware of where there was a problem it was handled well.

Columbian Orchid Imports' orchids are bare root because they cross an international border.
To be traded, they have to be bare root, or in flasks.
