Default Lths. tsubotae planted in a globe.

I’d been “holding” a mounted Lths. tsubotae in a mini glass globe with some sphagnum for added moisture/humidity, and yesterday I planted in with Terrarium mix from Kelley’s Korner directly in the globe itself. The plant hadn’t attached itself to its mount, so it was easy to remove it.

If this one goes well, I’ll try it with my Lepanthes (telipogoniflora and/or telipogoniflora x calodictyon). I choose to start with the tsubotae as it is the smallest of the three.

Am I nuts? Any advice? Keep your finger crossed!

If this works, I will absolutely post pictures!

My Lep. tsubotae is doing quite well since I removed the sphagnum moss wad that was over the roots and started a little locally collected live moss around the roots instead. It dries out quickly so you have to be careful. Also, I had been placing it and my Lep. woodburyana in a container with a cold pack at night to drop the temps into the upper 50s for a few hours, but it does not seem to need this to flower. I even had it outside for a rainy, cloudy week where temps reached the mid 80s some afternoons and it did fine. Currently on vacation so I brought it with me. This species is apparently fairly adaptable and not at all an obligate cool grower. I think I am going to do extremely well with Lepanthes telipogoniflora when I can finally afford to order one!
