Acostaea costarricensis - tiny miniature orchid from South America - and I mean really "TINY". The whole adult plant is the size of the quarter, and the bloom is nearly translucent so it is very hard to take good pics. Very cute, this is first of many spikes. Doing best mounted on hygrolon cylinder, shade, constant moist, high humidity. I have one also mounted on little cork, growing very well too. I tried one outside at the balcony, and that one did not do good at all and died within a week, I assume even misting multiple times a day, it was drying out too much during the day on the Pleuro driftwood.

I'm here at the computer next to the back door, the frogs are beeping loud and strong and I'm looking at your fotos and swear I'm in the rain forest! Where the heck do you find these gems? Maybe in Miami there's more to choose from?! Anyway...keep 'em coming!

:-) Trust me, Miami is one of the worst places to find any miniatures. I wish I had been close to other nurseries spread around the USA, mostly California. Everyone here in Florida wants & buys only HUGE orchids, if it ain't huge, it ain't selling, the logo for any Florida show. Most of the shows are useless for me otherwise I do pre order from South America and Asia to pick up, because even if these vendors come to South Florida, they still bring only large plants, Dendro, Cattleya mostly. No miniatures at shows except the Redlands in May:-) I do pre order a lot, and I do some imports too, this way I can really get what is not available in the USA. So thanks for admiring my mini's :-)
